Description

AIT format sets a new performance standard for high density storage tape systems. The SDX series is the world’s highest capacity tape drive and media system offering both a rapid transfer rate and breakthrough data access times. Using Sony’s proven Advanced Metal Evaporated (AME) tape formulation, it achieves a native capacity of 25 GB (50 GB with compression) and a native transfer rate of 3.0 MB per second (6.0 MB with compression). Based on proven 8mm helical scan recording, Advanced Intelligent Tape technology was developed to support the increased storage demands of multimedia workstations, PC network and video server environments. AIT combines high density, helical scan recording with new head and media technology to achieve unprecedented capacity, performance, and reliability – all in a tiny 3.5 inch form factor.
